Five trenches were opened on the imprint of proposed farm buildings at Tullamain townland. The site is within the confines of a medieval settlement which contains Tullamain Castle, a church and graveyard and a motte and bailey. However, none of these remains were too near the site works, the nearest being 110m. Three features—field drains—were uncovered in the course of testing, of which none proved to be of archaeological provenance.
