This test-trenching project resulted from an application for permission to renovate and extend a dwelling house. The site is currently occupied by a now-disused modern dwelling house, an outhouse and a shed, and these are not of architectural merit. The site is within the zone of potential for archaeological complex 031–041, and an elevated circular stone enclosure (031–041(17)) is present c. 100m north-east of the site. Immediately to the north and outside the northern boundary of the site various low field banks, which appear to contain a high proportion of stone, are visible. Four test-trenches were excavated within the proposed development area. Each of the test-trenches was excavated to the level of the natural parent material. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
