This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. Excavation was undertaken in October 2007. The site was in a bog at the southern end of Woodlands East townland and consisted of a stone layer. There was also a large, partially quarried granite stone sticking out of the bog.

Pre-development test-trenching undertaken by CRDS Ltd identified the quarried stone and stone layer and interpreted it as a by-product of stone quarrying, and the age probably being post-medieval.

Excavation revealed more of the quarried stone and associated stone layer. It was again interpreted as being post-medieval. The quarried stone and stone layer were probably contemporary with each other, although no finds were recovered. The site is not archaeologically significant.
