Test-trenching revealed the extent and survival levels of two workshops and a building which housed three Newcastle-style kilns. These related to 19th-century industrial activities at Castle Espie. The position of an associated 19th-century pottery dump was also identified. Full excavation of these features was not undertaken at this time, but further work may yet take place under this licence.
