Monitoring of the mechanical excavation of foundation trenches was undertaken at the site of a proposed development in the heart of Limavady. This work was conducted over a two-day period in September 2007. A total of four foundation trenches were excavated. In all trenches subsoil was uncovered at a depth of 0.8m below the current ground surface. This was sealed with a layer of overburden comprising dark-brown clayey loam mixed with brick rubble and modern material. No archaeological deposits were uncovered within any of the foundation trenches.
