Test-trenching was carried out on a greenfield site in advance of the proposed construction of a single dwelling house. The proposed development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential surrounding a possible levelled fulacht fiadh. There were no visible surface traces of this site and it was not encountered in the trenches excavated in the area to be impacted on by the proposed house. The truncated remains of a burnt spread were uncovered in the area to the south of the proposed house, which was due to be impacted by service trenches and percolation area. These services will be relocated in order to ensure the preservation in situ of the burnt spread and monitoring of construction works was recommended.
