This site was located within Contract 5 (Kells to north of Kells) of the proposed M3 Clonee to north of Kells motorway and was identified during advance testing by David Bayley (Excavations 2004, No. 1223, 04E1055). Full resolution began in December 2006 and is not yet complete. Thus far, the site consists of a large burnt-stone mound (18m by 11m), half of which is outside the land-take of the proposed road, and two burnt-stone spreads. The first burnt-stone spread (5m by 3m) was located 4m north of the mound and was roughly oval in plan. The second spread (4.5m by 1m) was located about 20m north-west of the mound and was curvilinear in plan.
