An assessment was carried out in June 2004, with the licence extended to cover monitoring of topsoil-stripping in September 2004, as requested by Wicklow County Council. During the course of the monitoring the remains of a holy well were located. This area will be a designated a ‘green area’ within the proposed development, therefore the monument will not be impacted upon as result of construction works. The well will be sealed with earth and a 10m buffer zone will be placed around the monument.
No other features of archaeological significance were identified during this programme of monitoring.
