Planning permission for the erection of a dwelling was given by Wexford County Council on the site of a ringfort that had been destroyed in 1984. Hand excavation of test-pits was requested by the National Monuments Section to determine the level of archaeological material across the site and this was undertaken in 2003 (Excavations 2003, No. 2020). Test excavation by machine was undertaken in January 2004, when a total of seven trenches were excavated. The testing revealed the ditch of the monument to be c. 5m wide. An occupation deposit and several archaeological features are present in the interior of the monument. Three of the deposits contained sherds of coarse pottery.
