Monitoring was undertaken at Mullaghroe and Mahanagh townlands in County Sligo in advance of the realignment of a dangerous stretch of the R294 road. This improvement involved the machine-stripping of topsoil of a c. 300m-long section of boggy ground adjacent to/immediately west of the current road. The monitoring took place during September and October 2004. Nothing of archaeological significance was observed during the works.
