Archaeological works were conducted prior to a proposed road-widening scheme along the Manse Road, Lisnabreeny, Co. Down, within the grounds of Lisnabreeny estate, a National Trust property. Several features of archaeological importance were recorded prior to the road-widening commencing. These included the pre-1830 gatelodge, the western entrance and adjacent pillars, the orchard wall and WWII sentry box foundation. The remaining area of the site was topsoil-stripped by a mechanical digger fitted with a toothless bucket. The topsoil removal revealed no evidence of archaeological deposits.

Editor’s note: Although this licence was issued during 2004, the report on the work was not received in time for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
