Archaeological works were conducted on site in advance of future redevelopment of the Town Hall site. A series of trial-trenches were excavated. They revealed the truncated remains of several walls of probable 18th-century date. Further investigation revealed the frontage of at least two structures of 18th-century date which appear to represent the original frontage of Linenhall Street.
