Monitoring of the final phase of construction of a housing development at Caherweesheen was undertaken in compliance with a planning condition. Caherweesheen is located in the south-eastern suburbs of Tralee. There were a number of different phases of monitoring undertaken at the site in 2002, by Marion Dowd and the writer, during which a Neolithic polished stone axe was recovered (Excavations 2002, Nos 837–838). No archaeological stratigraphy or artefacts were recorded in this final phase of monitoring.
