The digging of a service trench for a BGE feeder main bringing natural gas to Ballinasloe was monitored. The feeder main ran from an aboveground installation at Perssepark, 6km west of the town, followed the R348, serviced the main streets and then joined existing pipework on the N6 east of the town. The pipe trench was dug into the verges of existing roads in the vicinity of known monuments, but no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed.
