Five trenches were excavated in the course of testing at the site of a proposed dwelling-house, which is near to a castle site and to early ecclesiastical remains. In general the stratigraphy consisted of sod and topsoil over an orange-brown sandy daub, which in turn overlay a brown-grey sandy gravel. In two of the trenches, this was underlain by a blue-grey boulder clay. No features of archaeological significance were revealed.
