Topsoil-stripping was undertaken before the construction of the Kilmartin N11 interchange for the purposes of excavating and extracting suitable borrow-pit material for road construction.
Three areas were stripped. One area with evidence of possible prehistoric activity was exposed and investigated under licence 02E1351 (No. 1976, Excavations 2002). Three areas of archaeological potential were identified and preserved in situ with a 15m buffer zone.
