Monitoring of topsoil-stripping was carried out on part of the Phase III residential development at College Hill, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. An area measuring 10m by 120m was stripped along a proposed road (Access Road no. 2) in the central part of the site. The topsoil and sod were 0.1–0.2m deep and came directly down onto natural subsoil. No archaeological features were exposed, and no finds were recovered.
