Testing in the townland of Kilmocolmock was required as part of pre-development work for the Pipeline to the West project. The pipeline had been routed between two archaeological sites, an enclosure, SMR 52:10, and a cashel, SMR 52:11, to the north and south. The enclosure was situated on a low ridge overlooking the wayleave. The site to the south, however, had been totally obliterated, with no visible above-ground trace. Testing involved the mechanical excavation of three trenches oriented north-east/south-west between the constraint zones of both sites. All three trenches were excavated to a depth of 0.35–0.5m. The stratigraphy exposed was uniform throughout, with a sod and topsoil layer, 0.13m deep, overlying a mid-brown silt deposit with occasional small to medium-sized stones. This silty deposit had an average depth of 0.35m and overlay a sterile, compact, grey boulder clay. No finds or features of any significance were noted.
