Monitoring of the groundworks for a single residential development was carried out. Within 1.6km of the development area nine souterrains are recorded. Topsoil, an average of 0.4m deep, covered most of the site. This lay above light grey, glacially deposited gravel and boulder clay, c. 0.9m deep, on top of Silurian shale bedrock. No materials of archaeological significance were found.
