Testing was undertaken in a field to the west (rear) of John Watters’ public house before a proposed development involving the construction of car-parking facilities in the field. Five trenches were excavated by a mechanical excavator with a 1.5m-wide toothless grading bucket. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were observed.
