The digging of foundation trenches relating to the construction of a single dwelling-house was monitored in May 2002. The development was limited to part of the ground formerly occupied by a recently demolished hotel, along the southern side of the town square. The trenching exposed rubble fill deposited directly on bedrock. No archaeological features or finds were discovered.
