Test excavation in advance of a proposed development on this site was requested owing to its location at the rear of the old RIC barracks in Clonee, SMR 51:7. For the past 30 years the site (33m x 60m) has been used as a private garden. Six test-trenches were excavated by mechanical digger. In no trench were finds, features or structures of any archaeological significance uncovered. A central area of the site (c. 18m x 18m) was unavailable at the time of the assessment. Further work may be required.
