A proposal to erect a GSM telecommunications mast in the vicinity of a possible Early Christian ringfort (SMR 31:17) at Balbrigh, Trim, produced a requirement from DĂșchas for an assessment of the proposed site. Three trenches were excavated, two in the area of the proposed location and one along the course of an approach trackway. All three provided the same stratigraphy, consisting of c. 0.2m of turf and topsoil lying directly over sandy, yellow/brown boulder clay. No archaeological features or deposits were present.
