Pre-development testing of a site at Rosmindle, Co. Mayo, was carried out on 28 February 2001. The site is within the constraint area for an enclosure.

The proposed development was in a sloping field on a small headland jutting into Clew Bay. The site affords good views of Castleaffy Strand to the north-east and Croagh Patrick to the south. Four trial-trenches were excavated which measured 10–25m in length by 0.9–1.1m in width by 0.4m in depth.

The stratigraphy exposed consisted of a sod and topsoil overlying an orange clay layer and, in Trench 4, a dark brown peat. No finds or features of interest were noted.
