St Mary’s Church, a late 17th-century galleried church, is currently undergoing redevelopment. Phase 1 involved the insertion of a basement and the underpinning of the existing building. This resulted in excavation of skeletal material in the crypts and on the south side of the church. Phase 2 is currently in progress and involves the insertion of a second basement on the west and north side of the church. All excavation work, including the piling operation, is being monitored. The piling is currently in progress, with bulk excavation to follow in the near future.
