Seven test-trenches were opened on a greenfield site on the outskirts of Ballyshannon town. The pre-construction testing works were carried out pursuant to planning permission to construct a dwelling-house.

The remains of a modern domestic dump were found in five of the trenches; the others revealed nothing of archaeological interest.
