The proposed development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for Kilbolane Castle, Kilbolane, Milford. Testing was requested on the site by An Bórd Pleanála in advance of the development. Six test-trenches were opened on the footprint of the proposed dwelling-house site by mechanical digger. No archaeological finds or features were noted in the trenches and the development was allowed to proceed.
