The archaeological assessment of the proposed Knock–Claremorris Bypass identified a possible children’s burial-ground positioned within 5m of the line of the development. The possible site is adjacent to an enclosure, SMR 81:25.
Three trenches were excavated by hand. Trenches 1 and 3 measured 1.5m by 5m. Trench 2 measured 2m by 5m. All were excavated to undisturbed subsoil. No finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance were present.
