Pre-development testing was undertaken on the site of a proposed development in Askillaun, Louisburgh, Co. Mayo. The site is within the archaeological constraint of ecclesiastical remains. Five test-trenches were excavated by machine within the proposed development site. They varied between 8m and 20m long and were 1.5m wide. In all, the topsoil overlay a natural, sandy gravel. No archaeological features or finds were recovered from any of the trenches.
