Monitoring of topsoil-stripping and drainage works associated with the Dunleer–Dundalk Motorway continued. Seven previously unrecorded archaeological sites were found and excavated. They are described under their townland headings: Braganstown (No. 545, Excavations 1999), Charleville (No. 555, Excavations 1999), Drumleck (No. 592, Excavations 1999), Newrath (Nos 629 and 630, Excavations 1999) and Whiterath (No. 642, Excavations 1999).
