This site was revealed during an intensive resurvey of the western TMF area. Subsequent excavation established the site to be a trackway, dendrochronologically dated to 426+9 BC or later and 322+9 BC or later (Q9487 and Q9486). It was constructed of alternating sections of longitudinal roundwood and diagonal planks and roundwood, measuring 17.4m in length, up to 2.8m in width and up to 0.5m in depth. The site originated on dry land in the west and extended eastward over root systems towards the edge of the late Iron Age marginal forest. Most of the construction was a single layer and provided a firm footing, except in one area where a foundation layer was required.
