In accordance with a condition of the planning permission, the site was archaeologically tested in advance of the construction of a house.
The proposed development is located c. 100m to the west of Ballymoon Castle, an early 14th-century fortress, in a field where shallow ditches and low banks are visible. The development site was extensively tested. No evidence for occupation, finds or any remains of possible antiquity were apparent on the site.
