For the purpose of laying electrical cable for floodlights at certain external locations around St David’s Church, a narrow trench, on average 0.3m wide and 0.3m deep, was manually excavated close to the east, west and north walls of the church. A small number of previously disturbed human skeletal remains were encountered in the vicinity of the vestry. In a cutting to the east of the church, close to the southern edge of the former St Mary’s aisle, one fragment of a decorated medieval floor tile was found; it is of similar character to the tile fragments recovered from this site some years ago (Excavations 1990, 38) and described by Dr Tom Fanning in the Journal of the County Kildare Archaeological Society 18, 157–8.
