A programme of archaeological test trenching was carried out at Ringlestown, Kilmessan, Co. Meath, informed by geophysical survey carried out under licence 18R0258 ext.

Test trenching was carried out on the site on 7 August 2020 using a 14-tonne excavator fitted with a flat toothless bucket.  A total of 6 test trenches were excavated totalling 281 linear metres.  In general, the average thickness of the sod and topsoil (C1) measured c.0.24-0.54m and lay above the natural orange clay and stone (C2).

No archaeological features or deposits were exposed or identified and no finds were recovered.
