Pre-development test trenching was carried out in response to planning conditions imposed by NIEA:HMU under PPS6:BH4 relating to a proposed windfarm development at Seegronan, Killeter, Co. Tyrone with specific reference to two known recorded monuments TYR023:037 and TYR023:047 located within the development area.
Test trenching was aimed at identifying any potential archaeological remains which may have survived within the footprint of the proposed access roads, turbine bases, sub-station and site compound in order to allow for their appropriate treatment. A total of 1.7km of linear test trenching was carried out revealing topsoil within the development area to be on average 0.7m deep.
No archaeological deposits were uncovered during the course of the test trenching works.
