Testing was undertaken with regard to a planning application to construct a Viewing Platform with associated 2m wide footpaths, sundry works and an extension to the existing carpark at the Blasket Centre, Ferritersquarter, Dunquin, Co. Kerry. Fifteen test trenches extended between ITM coordinates E431368, N600704 and E431134, N600612. Six of them were opened across the footprint of the proposed extension of the carpark area and nine along proposed pathways, all with negative results. No artefacts were recovered during testing although two artefacts, a possible hammerstone (broken) and a rubbing stone were found during the field inspection prior to testing. The find spot area is situated c.150m north-west outside of the tested area.
