An assessment was carried out in February 2007 as part of the programme of archaeological works on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. This assessment of Contract 2: Testing Area 11 involved the mechanical excavation of a single test-trench through a townland boundary separating Derryvorrigan and Doon townlands. The boundary consisted of a hedgerow 1m in height and 3m in width. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered in the excavated trench.
