The Centre for Maritime Archaeology at the University of Ulster and Donal Boland were requested to conduct a brief assessment of a clinker-built vessel uncovered during the course of dredging operations in the River Boyne during 2006 (see No. 1348 below). Successful monitoring of the operation succeeding in preventing dredge damage to the vessel. The assessment involved geophysical survey of the area of the wreck combined with dive inspection in December 2006. Underwater work was limited by flood conditions on the site. The assessment confirmed the presence of a clinker wreck measuring over 10m in length that was becoming exposed by sediment movement.
