Testing was carried out at Ballyshingadaun, The Neale, Co. Mayo, in September 2005. The proposed development involves the construction of two dwelling houses with septic tanks and percolation areas and ancillary works in adjoining sites. Both proposed houses are located within the archaeological constraint established around SMR 121:2, classified as a standing stone. Eight trial-trenches were mechanically excavated throughout the site concentrating on the areas of direct impact. No archaeological features or finds were exposed during the course of testing.
