Archaeological testing consisted of a single trench extending the full length of this small urban site. The trench was opened along what had been the old street frontage of Aungier St. Although three successive phases of activity were revealed, nothing to indicate occupation earlier than the 18th century was identified. The foundations of the latest structures had cut deeply into the natural deposits except in one tiny area where portion of an old surface survived. Charcoal, burnt material and oyster shell were recovered from the deposits overlying this surface. Elsewhere, destruction of any features which may have existed had been total.
