A licence was issued to carry out test-trenching in a creamery yard area before installation of a 6.82m2 chlorination tank, but it was not possible to excavate through the thickly concreted yard surface. The proposed development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential surrounding the site of a holy well and there is now no visible surface trace of this site. Following consultation with the National Monuments Service it was recommended that the groundworks carried out at this site should be monitored. The stratigraphy recorded during monitoring consisted of a 0.5m-thick layer of slab concrete that directly overlay the natural boulder clay subsoil. The construction of the creamery and concrete yard appears to have removed all traces of the holy well and no archaeological features or finds were uncovered in the monitored area.
