An addendum was carried out to the previous works of Stage (i) Test Excavation Services and Stage (ii) Pre-Excavation Services on the route of the N16 Cornacloy to Sradrine Realignment. This area was inaccessible during the initial phase of archaeological works but was subsequently cleared of forest and woodland cover.

The works were undertaken as part of the Archaeological Services Contract prior to the commencement of construction works associated with the N16 Cornacloy to Sradrine Realignment in northern Co. Leitrim on this section of the scheme.

Stage (i) Test Excavation and Survey Services Additional was carried out on 8 and 9 April 2013. A total of 4 test trenches were excavated, comprising 210.7 linear metres of trenching. One area of archaeological interest– Cornacloy 3 – was identified during testing.

Following consultation with the National Roads Authority Project Archaeologist it was agreed that the design of the road at the location of the small burnt spread (Cornacloy 3) would not impact on this feature. It was therefore recommended it be preserved in situ with no further works recommended unless otherwise instructed by the National Monuments Service and the National Museum of Ireland.
