Monitoring was carried out within a Coillte plantation during groundworks associated with the construction of a new roadway through the forest. The forestry is adjacent to the new Cork/Dublin motorway to the immediate south of Fermoy town. The roadway extended from the southern boundary of the forestry northwards through steep ground for a distance of 150m. Monitoring was requested as three fulachta fiadh (CO035–141, CO035–128, CO035–057) were exposed and excavated during work on the motorway. The topsoil was removed to the natural boulder clay and no features of archaeological significance were noted in the investigated areas.
