The site of the proposed development is located on the eastern edge of the village of Ballinalee, Co. Longford, north-west of Ballinalee School. The site is situated partially within the zone of archaeological potential for LF009–023 (town of Ballinalee). The RMP file for the town was consulted and revealed no indications of any potential archaeological activity in the immediate vicinity of the proposed development site. Four trenches were excavated across the site of the proposed development. All four measured 1.5m wide and 40m long. All were excavated to a depth of between 0.35m and 0.45m. No evidence of archaeological features, finds or materials was revealed in any of the trenches excavated.
