An assessment, inclusive of testing, was carried out in Ballygriffin, Crecora, on 28 February 2006 in advance of a submission for planning permission for a single dwelling. This decision was pre-empted by the location of the development in respect of a ringfort site, LI021–108. The development lies to the north of the ringfort site, at a distance of not less than 54m. During initial consultations with the client it was agreed that all services would be located to the north of the proposed dwelling, effectively leaving an undisturbed buffer zone of 50m from the rear of the dwelling. Five trenches were excavated over the footprint of the development and main impact zones. No apparent archaeological features or deposits were noted within the footprint of the development.

Editor’s note: Although excavated during 2006, the report on this site arrived too late for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
