It was proposed to construct a residential development at Mountjoy Road, Mountjoy, Co. Tyrone. These works commenced in March 2005 and consisted of eight test-trenches, located across Phase II of the proposed development. During the course of the topsoil removal four areas of archaeological interest were identified and manually excavated. The archaeological activity identified consisted of two spreads and sixteen subsoil-cut features, some of which were dated ceramically to the 19th/20th century. The function of these features could not be ascertained, although two further features were tentatively identified as a brick clamp and a back-filled clay quarry.

Editor’s note: Although this licence was issued during 2005, the report on the work was not received in time for inclusion in the bulletin of that year.
