It was proposed to construct a residential development and sewage works at Ardmillan Road, Ardmillan. Supervision of the demolition of existing buildings was carried out on 23 May 2005. No evidence of earlier structures was identified within the fabric of the buildings. Following demolition of Ardmillan House, test-trenches were excavated across the site. The trenches revealed that the house was constructed directly on top of bedrock. The depth of the trenches averaged ,0.05m. No evidence of archaeological deposits was recorded during the course of the trial-trenching or topsoil removal.
