Visual inspection and magnetometer survey by handheld metal detection was employed to assess the archaeological potential of the riverbed and associated bank structures 100m downstream of Ballinter Bridge. Detailed descriptions were made of the riverbed topography and bottom composition. No archaeologically significant features were identified from the in-water survey. Ballinter Bridge was recorded in plan and photo-mosaic elevation. Assessment was undertaken on 14 May 2004 as part of the M3 motorway (Clonee to North of Kells).
