Monitoring for the construction of a dwelling-house and associated site works was carried out at the townland of Gibbagh, c. 6km north-west of Ballyshannon and just to the north-east of Rossnowlagh. There are two cashels and one enclosure near the development.
Although the site is relatively close to one of the cashels, there was no evidence of anything that pre-dated the post-medieval period on the site. A house formerly stood on the site. Only one feature was discovered in the course of monitoring, a patch of poorly degraded modern burning. It was considered that the burning might have occurred at the time that the building that formerly stood on the site was demolished.
