Monitoring was carried out at the site of a proposed residential development at Lisaniskey, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. The development consists of the construction of 51 houses, domestic garages and associated works occupying an area of c. 50,000m2. The proposed development is surrounded by many ringforts, with the nearest, SMR 35:48, located at the southern boundary of the site. The planning conditions requested a 20m buffer zone to be erected around the ringfort to the south, and that all topsoil-stripping and associated works be monitored. Monitoring was carried out at various dates in May and June 2003, with subsequent intermittent site inspections to ensure that the buffer zone was intact.
